The IRC is a certified IRS-sanctioned Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. All the preparers have passed IRC certification for the 2009 tax year, and are supervised by certified overseers. The site can file returns electronically for all qualifying returns. The volunteers working at the site have expertise in evaluating refugee situation (e.g. non-resident status), and in maximizing on credits for which clients are eligible (e.g. Earned Income Tax Credit).
