On Aug. 23, 2006 LAS attended the Atlanta Asian Film Festival Press Conference to discuss the upcoming “Sentenced Home”  Film to be shown at Georgia Perimeter College.

LAS is sponsoring a very important documentary called “Sentenced Home” to be aired on Wed, September 27, 2006 7:00pm during the 2nd Annual Atlanta Asian Film Festival.  FREE admission to the public.
Those who attended included, representatives from different organizations such as An Goh, Malaysian Association VP, Marianna Mayer, Varinee Sangmalee, Thai Association World Center, Akira Morishita, (AAFF), Frank Falcettab (GA Perimeter College), Sharon Lim Harie (Mercer University, Assistance VP for Alumni Services and University Special Events), David Manuel (Woodruff Arts Center, Community Relations Director) as well as different press repesentatives.
Even though there are a handful of families directly affected, it affects all of our communities and tears us apart. We need your help, the Community Leaders, to promote this documentary and educate others about the deportations of Southeast Asian Americans in the United States back to Southeast Asia.  After September 11, the US government has made an agreement with Cambodia to accept deportees and as a result many have been deported back to Cambodia. The U.S. is currently negotiating with Laos and Vietnam.Contributed by:
